The 42-year-old woman Flavia Akech who was arrested by the Police in Amuru trying to sneak a number of armed assortment say she was hired to deliver the consignment and be paid.

Akech, a resident of Wandegeya in Kampala as well as Enamu trading Center in Apac district was picked up together with four others at Bibia boarder on January 24th 2018 while trying to cross the border with a number of weapons in a Noah vehicle registration number UAP 771K.

The other suspects included Vincent Otema, the driver of the Noah Vehicle and a boda boda rider who was carrying Aketch identified as Ronald Kisire.

They were found in possession of 13 Submachine Gun (SMG) magazines amounting to  390 rounds of ammunition, 17 grenades, 16 fuses of grenades, 596 loose ammunition (SMG),145 PK  ammunitions in chain, 348 PK loose ammunitions, 493 PK ammunition, 2 pistols with 3 rounds and 2 pouches labeled tiger division 2 SPLA bags marked National security.

According to the Director Interpol Dr Fred Yiga, the suspects currently in custody at Nalufenya Police facility have not revealed the person who was behind the deal.

Yiga reaffirmed the country’s position to fight proliferation of illegal fire arms.
