The Uganda Joint Christian council (UJCC) has urged the promoters of the private members Bills on lifting the presidential age limit to listen to voice of reason and refrain from tabling the private member’s bill before Parliament

The Executive secretary Rev.Fr Sylvester Arinaitwe Rwomukubwe while addressing the journalists at their offices in Nsambya said that this will give Ugandans more time to deliberate on the planned amendment of article 102(b) of the constitution and related matters through structured platform for national interest, unity, peace and stability.

Fr. Arinaitwe says government might instead take charge of the situation by convening a stake holder’s conference consisting of representative of elders, religious and cultural leader’s civil society organizations, academician among others with a view of reaching amicable solution.

He calls upon all Ugandans to support the proposal for convening of a national dialogue Forum which should have regard to sensitivity of the matter.

The bill is expected to be table on Tuesday by the Igara West MP Raphael Magezi after the move collapsed last week.
