Uganda People Congress (UPC) has condemned government for failure to allocate funds for school skills development in the budget yet it focuses on job creation.

According to UPC Publicity Secretary Michael Osinde Orach, a large percentage of Uganda’s production age lacks necessary skills to take advantage of the available jobs on the market that would direct investment in the country.

In the 2017/18 national budget, the education sector was allocated to over 2 trillion shillings.

Osinde says that government would have specified skill development budget like as it did for salary increment of teachers.

Osinde also notes the problem of climate change brought as a result of de-forestation, poor farming practices and methods that have threatened food security challenging government to invest funds in agro-forestry before thinking of distributing seedlings and improved seeds and provision of tractors for commercial agriculture.
