Uganda Women Parliamentary Association (UWOPA) together with Center for Domestic Violence Prevention (CEDOVIP) has appealed to Ministry of Education to put up protective measures to avoid pregnant students from missing sitting exams.

The UWOPA Chairperson Monica Amoding reveals that a number of pregnant girls were stopped from sitting for the recently concluded Senior Four (S.4) Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) final exams across the country.

About 326,149 senior four candidates are said to have sat this year’s Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations at 3,568 centers across the country.

She says this affects the girl child from completing studies hence the high levels of girl child drop outs.

Amoding now asks government to consider enacting policies that will end discrimination of pregnant girls from schooling against boys who make them pregnant and they remain in schools.

Meanwhile Kampala Woman Member of Parliament Nabira Naggayi complained of sexual harassment from fellow male MPs saying the inconvenience faced is similar to what the young ones face and the law should hold all of them culpable.
