Government accepts to negotiate with teachers

Government has finally accepted to negotiate with teachers over salary enhancement.

This has been confirmed by the chairperson of National Organisation of Trade Union Usher Wilson Owere saying that they are to meet with the vice president Rtd. Maj. Jessica Alupo  at the office of the president in Kampala together with the workers  members of Parliament, Uganda National Teachers Union among others.

In the June 29^th meeting it’s said among the issues to be tabled include Arts teachers’ industrial action and other public servants’ salaries.

Owere welcomed government’s move to enhance salaries of science teachers and advised Arts teachers not to get angry over it.

It’s now close to two weeks since Arts teachers laid down there tools over salary enhancement.
