Human rights activists have welcomed the signing of the Anti-Gay Bill into law which was passed recently by the 11th parliament.

The news surrounding president Museveni’s assenting to the bill was announced by the speaker of parliament through her twitter handle early today.

Speaking to our reporter the human rights activist Dr. Living Stone Ssewanyana, said this is a very good move in as far as protection and observance of our cultural norms and values is concerned he however calls for public awareness against such bad vices in the society.

He noted that many good laws have been passed but fail to be implemented because the public doesn’t know the effects of such vices.

Meanwhile, the opposition National Economic Empowerment Dialogue (NEED) has urged those responsible for enforcing the Anti-Homosexuality Act to do their job without fear.

Today the Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda, Anita Among has announced that Uganda’s president Yoweri Museveni passed the Anti-Homosexuality Act amid pressures and criticisms from the international community.

While addressing the press at their party headquarters in Lubaga, Joseph Kabuleta the party president said that on many occasions laws are passed but fail to be implemented by responsible authorities rendering them irrelevant.

Kabuleta has extended appreciation to the people of Uganda for their prayers because signing the Ant-Gay law will help in the strengthening of our cultural morals and values.
