A plot to impeach the Chief Justice David Maraga and Chief Registrar of Judiciary Anne Amadi has been hatched in the National Assembly by MPs affiliated to Jubilee in a move that the Kenya Magistrates and Judges Association (KMJA) say is related to the Supreme Court’s nullification of the August 8 presidential election.

The plot is to frame the CJ and Registrar with non-existent charges then pass the resolution in the House to have them investigated by the Ethics and Anti- Corruption Commission.

This comes moments after Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu filed a petition before the Judicial Service Commission seeking the removal of Justice Maraga over gross misconduct” pointing out instituting “a judicial coup” as the head of the third arm of government and conniving with NGOs that decampaigned Presidetn Uhuru in the 2013 election.

Meanwhile European Union Observer Mission In a statement dated September 14 has called for investigation and possible prosecution of IEBC officials for electoral malpractices that marred the August 8 General Election.

Reminding of the recommendations made if Kenya is to promote accountability and transparency in the repeat presidential election set for October 17.
