Hundreds of faithful have converged at Lugazi Cathedral to celebrate the diocesan day.

The diocese was started in 1997 and given now Bishop Emeritus Rt. Rev. Mathias Ssekamanya who served until 2015 and replaced by Rt. Rev. Bishop Christopher Kakooza all coming from Kampala Archdiocese where they served as Auxiliary Bishops.

Leading the Eucharistic celebrations Lugazi Rt. Rev. Bishop Mathias Ssekamanya hailed the support and guidance enjoyed in the year ending February announcing that new Parishes are to be fully commissioned after the completion of the priests houses to help people get closer to God.

Bishop Kakooza announced a new diocesan theme; Let us build the Families, the foundation of the Church, 1 Cor.3,9-16, that is aimed at building strong families and encouraging others to embrace holy matrimony because it’s the foundation of the Catholic Church.

He announced the election of diocesan new leaders this year 2019 and mobilization of funds to support the completed of already ongoing diocesan projects aimed at sustaining the smooth running of the diocese like completion of the Teachers’ quarters currently under construction at Namagunga.

The mass has been attended by among others Bishop Emeritus of Lugazi diocese Rt. Rev. Mathias Ssekamanya, Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze and a group of Missionaries from Newland and U.S.A.
