Ugandan investors and business men have been called upon to use the opportunity of a free trade market of 80 million people in the Democratic Republic of Congo and go and do business.

 

This has been revealed by the Minister of State for Privatization and Investment Evelyn Anite at the Uganda media centre in Kampala ahead of the Uganda –Democratic Republic of Congo investment summit and expo.

 

The summit will take place in Kinshasa the capital of DRC from 27th to 29th June 2022 under the theme “Uganda -DRC investment promotion and market access noting that after DRC joining the East African community.

 

Anite says the two governments have been formalizing the relationship which has allowed the smooth flow of commerce and provides an opportunity for Ugandans from different sectors like factories, commercial agriculture, ICT, electricity sector, real estate, hotel, tourism and others to go and invest in this DRC.

 

She also says that this summit will attract a number of Congolese investors to come and set up shops in Uganda, taking advantage of Uganda’s strategic location in the heart of the East African community bloc.

 

The objective of the summit is to promote and showcase investment opportunities, create networks and joint venture partnership aimed at enhancing investment and market access between Uganda and DRC as well as to promote products manufactured in Uganda.
