The Ministry of Health has confirmed to have seized two vehicles it had allocated to Lira district following poor performance in service delivery.
According to a service delivery report released by the Ministry of Health on 2nd November 2023 at Speke Resort Hotel Munyonyo in Kampala, Lira district was among 146 districts whose performance were gauged in 2022/2023 financial year, registering 52%.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Ministry’s Senior Spokesperson Emmanuel Ainebyona says that seized vehicles are Registration number UG 4661M and UG 6691M pick-up double cabin.
Ainebyona says that during the routine support supervision, the Ministry’s zonal teams noted that the two vehicles were not being used to support health service delivery.
He says that such action will be extended to other districts where vehicles were deployed to support routine immunization and surveillance but are not performing their actual duties.
Lira District Chairperson Okello Orik said the Ministry of Health has for long been demanding for the vehicles from Lira district over poor health service delivery.
