The sacked Deputy Executive Director of the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Eng. David Luyimbazi Ssali is ready to face any investigation as directed by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
On Tuesday September 24th 2024, President Museveni sacked the KCCA Executive Director Dorothy Kisaka, her deputy Eng. David Luyimbazi and the Director of Public Health, Dr. Daniel Okello and directed the Police’s Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to investigate the officers of any criminal cases.
Speaking to Eng. Luyimbazi before leaving office on Wednesday September 25th 2024, he noted that his comments on the matter are limited as he is not privy to the detailed report implicating him by the Inspector General of Government (IGG) pinning them over mismanagement.
He also explained the Shs 4.1 billion that was allocated for waste management each year that it was only to ensure that the garbage at the Kiteezi waste site does not accumulate into heaps and that a private company named Nipol has been in charge of managing the site.
According to the letter from the President’s Press Office, in a decisive response to the findings of the IGG report concerning the Kiteezi Landfill disaster, the President exercised his constitutional authority under Article 172 (1) (a) of the 1995 Ugandan Constitution to dismiss the three KCCA officials in the public interest due to significant evidence of criminal negligence.
The letter also revealed that the President remains committed to upholding accountability and maintaining the highest standards of governance for the benefit of all citizens.
