The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) is to release a final comprehensive report on the 2024 National Population and Housing Census that will disclose the survival status of Ugandans.
The report to be released on October 3rd 2024 at the Kampala Serena Hotel will be broadcast live on several traditional media and social media platforms.
While addressing the journalists at the Uganda Media Center in Kampala, the UBOS Spokesperson Didacus Okoth said the data will inform evidence-based planning, decision-making, population projections and other essential estimates.
In June this year, UBOS released preliminary results from the May 2024 National Population and Housing Census, indicating that Uganda’s population had increased by 11.3 million people since 2014 to 45.94 million people.
Meanwhile, on the issue of the payment of the personnel used in the census exercise, UBOS says despite releasing the final results of the 2024 population census, all remaining debts from Enumerators, Supervisors, Field Guides among others will be paid.
UBOS reported that Shs 88.7 billion was allocated for payments to census personnel through an e-Cash platform. This amount covered 115,846 enumerators, with 98.7% of them having received their compensation.
Additionally, 97.1% of Field Guides, all 13,272 Enumeration Supervisors, and 99.4% of the 14,643 Sub-County Supervisors have been paid. However, only 55.78 percent of the 1,635 district officials have been paid.
Didacus Okoth, the UBOS Spokesperson says they have paid the biggest percentage and those remaining will soon get their money provided they registered correct names and returned all the equipment they used during the census.
Okoth disclosed that the Government funded 99% of the total census budget, contributing Shs 328.74 billion, while development partners provided the remaining 1% that amounted to Shs 18.5 billion.
