The Pope Nuncio Emeritus to Belgium Archbishop Augustine Kasujja has challenged Ugandans to profess Jesus of Peace in their daily life.
He says this is not optional but the obligation of every faithful to pray for the lives and rights of all people in the world to have peace.
This was contained in his homily as he officiated at the celebrations of St. Peter’s Secondary School Nsambya Feast Day of their Patron Saint Peter on Tuesday where he also confirmed nine students.
He tasked the confirmants to follow Jesus’ teachings that focuses on bringing justice and peace to all.
In his parental teaching, he advised the students to be agents of Saint Peter the apostle while at school and in their communities.
His Excellency Kasujja also asked Ugandans to pray for peace in Uganda as it celebrates her 62nd Independence Day that will be celebrated on Wednesday October 9th 2024 in Busia district.
He has also blessed the 2024 candidates who are to sit for the Senior Four and Senior Six UNEB Examinations to excel in their final exams.
Meanwhile, the Minister for Higher Education, Dr. John Chrysostom Muyingo who was represented by the Assistant Commissioner in charge of Private Schools, Dr. George Mutekanga applauded Catholic founded schools for not only nurturing the young generation morally, spiritually and in an upright manner.
He noted that St. Peter’s S.S.S is among the schools well known for instilling values in their students who become future leaders of integrity.
He advised teachers to embrace innovation and technology to ensure the success of the new competence based curriculum which the Government is pushing.
He also cautioned School Administrators to let learners participate in community services such as general cleaning exercises whenever they are conducted during school time because it trains them to be servants of others.
Meanwhile, the St. Peter’s S.S.S Head teacher, Remigius Mungere assured that without passion, determination, love and joy, teachers cannot perform their work perfectly.
