Councillor Robert Wasswa Ssebunya of Kanaala Cell at Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality has been lauded for empowering the youths through his football tournament dubbed “Councilor Wasswa Premier League Cup”.
While addressing journalists after the tournament finals at the Jomayi Playground in Makindye Ssabagabo, Yusuf Zziwa Bugagga, an aspirant for the Makindye Ssabagabo Mayoral seat in 2026, who was the guest of honour said that investing in sports, helps in addressing critical issues affecting the youths such as unemployment, idleness, and substance abuse which can lead them into criminal acts.
Bugagga says Councillor Wasswa’s efforts demonstrate his dedication to empowering the youths and building a stronger community, because the Government has failed to do it.
Meanwhile, Councilor Wasswa has thanked all people who helped in the organization of this year’s tournament.
The 2024 edition of the tournament was won by the team of Bayern Munich supporters who beat Crystal Palace supporters by 2:0 on Sunday October 13th 2024 and were awarded a trophy, a set of jerseys and a goat.
