20 Individuals Arrested in Police Operations in Kampala

Security agencies have apprehended a total of 20 male adults on suspicion of engaging in illicit activities in the Kampala suburbs.

The operation was conducted by Police in collaboration with the UPDF and local community vigilantes in the areas of Kinawataka, Mbuya, Katoogo, Kaggo, Centre and Kalerwe zones.

According to the police, the operation, which took place between 11:30 am and 3:00 pm, targeted notorious black spots known for harbouring individuals involved in narcotics and stolen property.

Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson says that marijuana and other dangerous items, including housebreaking tools, knives and pangas, were seized from the various black spots.

He adds that the arrested suspects were charged and detained pending prosecution.

Onyango says the success of this joint operation demonstrates the effectiveness of intelligence-led initiatives in disrupting criminal activity in Kampala and beyond.

He meanwhile reiterates the Police’s commitment to continue conducting these intelligence-led operations to ensure public safety and security.
