Parents Told to Instill Faith in Their Children at Home

Msgr. John Baptist Ssebayiga Kiwanuka

Parents and guardians have been challenged to reflect on their roles in passing on the Catholic faith to the young generation through teaching it from their families.

The advice has been delivered by Msgr. John Baptist Ssebayiga Kiwanuka while giving his homily in the holy mass he led at Our Lady of Fatima Nakulabye Parish as the parish celebrated 50 years of existence.

He says that parents and guardians must teach their children the ways of God, starting from their families because the family is the domestic church where faith is first nurtured.

Msgr. Ssebayiga says the challenges of modern society can lead the children astray but if well-grounded in their faith, they can be equipped to face these challenges with confidence and wisdom and grow into strong, faithful leaders who will shape the future of the Church.

He however encouraged parents to practice their faith at home through prayer and scripture reading, attending mass and receive sacraments regularly so that the young ones can pick it from them.

In the same mass, Msgr. Ssebayiga has given ten couples the sacrament of matrimonial and advised them to love one another, be trustworthy and keep their marriage in God’s presence if they are to succeed at it.

He congratulated the couples upon this milestone as well as Christians and the parish leadership of Our Lady of Fatima Nakulabye Parish for reaching the 50 years milestone.
