DP Wants Ministers Kabanda, Kyofatogabye Investigated

Dp Spokesperson Ismail Kiirya

The Democratic Party (DP) demands for investigations into the role of the two Ministers of Kampala and Metropolitan Affairs over the Kiteezi landfill tragedy that left 35 people dead.

This follows the aligning of three former top KCCA Officials; the former Executive Director Dorothy Kisaka, her former Deputy Eng. David Luyimbazi Ssali, and the former Director of Public Health, Dr. Daniel Okello before the Kasangati Magistrate’s Court last week and were charged for manslaughter and 21 counts of causing harm by rash or negligent before they were remanded to Luzira prisons until November 4th 2024.

Speaking to the media at the DP offices at Balintuma Road in Kampala, the acting party Spokesperson Ismail Kiirya lauded the Government for allowing the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to investigate the suspects however, he wondered how the KCCA Technical Team could be negligent amidst the supervisory body comprising of the two ministers; Hajat Minsa Kabanda and Kabuye Kyofatogabye.

Kiirya has therefore asked the authorities handling these investigations to exercise justice and hold all leaders connected to the KCCA who had knowledge about the impending Kiteezi landfill collapse accountable.
