NUP to Appeal against Dismissal of Case on Missing Party Members

The President of the National Unity Platform (NUP) party, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu

The opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) party has vowed to appeal against the ruling made by Justice Esta Nambayo of the High Court in which she dismissed the case where NUP is demanding for their 18 missing supporters.

On Tuesday evening, Justice Nambayo sent a judgment via email dismissing a case where NUP lawyers led by Counsel George Musisi sought justice for the 18 missing persons who were allegedly kidnapped by security personnel before, during and after the 2021 general elections.

According to the ruling, Justice Nambayo dismissed the case on grounds that NUP failed to prove that the missing persons were in the hands of security personnel.

The 18 missing persons who were allegedly kidnapped between 2019 and 2022 include; John Bosco Kibalama who was kidnapped in 2019, John Ddamulira, Martin Lukwago, Denis Zimula, Moses Mbabazi, and Isma Ssesazi among others.

Speaking to the press at the party headquarters at Makerere-Kavule, Kampala, the NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu appealed to the families of the missing persons not to lose hope as they continue with the quest of their loved ones.

Some of the relatives of the missing persons appealed to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to pardon and release their relatives as they are sure they are in the hands of security personnel.
