The exhibition of the first-class miraculous relics of the Uganda Martyrs that has been taking place at the Uganda Martyrs University Lubaga Campus for the last one and half months has been officially closed on Thursday.
The exposition of the relics is part of the 60th anniversary of the canonization of the Uganda Martyrs and the closure has been performed by the Vicar for the Professionals in Kampala Archdiocese Msgr. Dr. Lawrence Ssemusu on behalf of the Archbishop of Kampala, His Grace Paul Ssemogerere.
In his homily at Lubaga Cathedral during the same event at which they launched the Bicentennial Year of Cardinal Charles Lavigerie, who he said was a great man who established and sent missionaries to Uganda from whom Uganda became known world over and grew in faith.
Msgr. Ssemusu added the 60th anniversary of the canonization of the Uganda Martyrs brings joy in recognizing the unique value of this great man who was the pillar of bringing the Catholic faith in Uganda.
He said this great event is a matter of continental importance for the Uganda Martyrs who are the first black people to be canonized by the Catholic Church in modern times.
In the same vein, Rev. Fr. Vincent Lubega noted that the two events that happened on Thursday, especially the commemoration of the 125 years of the Missionary Sisters of Africa in Uganda, tasks people of God to work with zeal and courage like Cardinal Lavigerie did.
