Police Worried by Increasing Motorcycle Accident Deaths

Michael Kananura, the Traffic Police Spokesperson

The Traffic Police is highly concerned about the number of people who continue to lose their lives in accidents involving motorcycles and pedestrians.

According to the Traffic Police Weekly Report, among the accidents recorded, 49 percent of them were involving motorcycles that left 41 people dead, of which 35 were riders while 6 were passengers.

The report also indicates that 32 people who died in these accidents were pedestrians, making a percentage rate of 38.

Michael Kananura, the Traffic Police Spokesperson says that reckless driving and overtaking remain the major contributors of road accidents in the country.

Meanwhile, Kananura has asked the road users to always adhere to the road safety regulations while on the road in order to minimize the accidents that occur.
