The savings scheme of the Uganda Police Force, Exodus Savings and Credit Co-operative Society (SACCO) is planning to have all officers willingly becoming members by the year 2030.
Started in 2007, members of the Exodus SACCO are Police Officers whose savings are directly deducted from their salary accounts by virtue of being serving officers.
Speaking to journalists at the Financial Reporting (FiRe) Awards ceremony organized by the Institute of Public Accountants of Uganda on Thursday evening in Kampala, ASP Eddy Ssekanjako, the Treasurer Exodus SACCO said that their aim is to ensure all Officers join the Sacco.
He says that their strategy is to also recruit into the Sacco all spouses, relatives and friends of Police Officers across the country.
The Police Exodus SACCO emerged the second runners up in the category of cooperative societies in the FiRe Awards.
It should be recalled that in February 2024, Parliament directed the Uganda Police Forces’ Exodus SACCO to stop the mandatory deduction of personnel salaries as savings.
