15 to be Charged for Selling Fake Cranes Tickets

Police say 15 people are to be aligned before Kira Magistrate Court over involvement in selling fake tickets at the Mandela National Stadium Namboole on Friday last week.

At least 18 people were arrested over possession and selling fake tickets for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers match between the national football team, the Uganda Cranes and their counterparts of South Africa.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson says that they vetted out three people who they found to be university students and remained with the 15 whose files are ready to be presented in court.

Owoyesigyire says the accused were found in possession of fake tickets at the entrance of the Namboole Stadium while selling them to the unsuspecting spectators.

Meanwhile, thousands of spectators at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole were left heart-broken, crest-fallen and disappointed after Uganda Cranes’ 2-0 home loss to South Africa in group K of the AFCON 2025 qualifiers.
