Pope Francis Appoints Fr. Rupiny Bishop of Nebbi

The Holy Father Pope Francis has appointed Rev. Fr. Constantine Rupiny as the new Bishop of Nebbi Catholic Diocese in the West Nile region.

The message of the appointment was announced by the Archbishop of Gulu, His Grace Raphael P’Mony Wokorach in Nebbi on Tuesday afternoon.

Upon his appointment, Fr. Rupiny, 50, was the Rector of the Uganda Martyrs’ National Major Seminary in Alokolum in the Archdiocese of Gulu.

Dr. Constantine Rupiny was born on November 10th 1974 in Parombo in the Diocese of Nebbi. 

He completed his philosophical studies at the Uganda Martyrs’ National Major Seminary in Alokolum, in the Archdiocese of Gulu (1996-1999), and his theological studies at St. Mary’s National Major Seminary in Ggaba, in the Archdiocese of Kampala (2000-2004).

He subsequently obtained a Licentiate in Philosophy at the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome (2009-2011) and a Doctorate in Dogmatic Theology at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw, Poland (2018-2022). 

He was ordained a priest on August 28 2004 and held various positions among others as a Formator and Professor at the Uganda Martyrs’ National Major Seminary in Alokolum (2007-2009, and 2011-2018).
