The Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among has asked the Government to present a statement to Parliament on Tuesday December 3rd 2024 about the alleged abduction of Col. (Rtd) Dr. Kizza Besigye from Kenya last week.

This was after the Kira Municipality MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda presented a report to Parliament condemning the manner in which Besigye was abducted from Riverside Apartments in Kenya allegedly by Uganda’s Security forces which violated the international laws on extradition.

Ssemujju challenged the Government to avail to the public any extradition document that was followed to arrest Besigye from Kenya especially now that Kenya also denied having arrested and surrendered Besigye to the Ugandan security forces.

Apparently Besigye together with Haji Obeid Lutale are being charged by the UPDF General Court Martial at Makindye of being in possession of two pistols and other ammunitions which are the preserve of the Defence Forces and they were remanded to Luzira prison until December 2nd 2024.

It’s from this that the Speaker Among requested both the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense to present a report to Parliament on Tuesday next week without going into the merits of the case especially now that it’s before court.
