Lubowa Hospital Works at 45% – Minister Aceng

Minister Aceng on Lubowa Hospital Works

The Ministry of Health has revealed that the construction status of the International Specialized Hospital at Lubowa, Wakiso district is at 45% progress.

In 2015, the Government contracted an Italian company Finasi-ISHU Construction SPV SMC Limited to undertake the design, finance, construction and equipping of the Lubowa Hospital.

While at the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) presenting the Ministry of Health 2021-2026 Manifesto implementation progress, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, the health minister disclosed that the construction works have so far reached the sixth floor.

She has assured the public that soon the works will be completed to allow Ugandans to get better specialized medical services in the country.

Aceng also revealed that the Government has not yet fulfilled its commitment of constructing a general hospital in Wakiso district and in Lubaga Division, Kampala as it had planned in this five year political term due to lack of funds.

Meanwhile, Aceng says they are soon embarking on digitizing the health sector to curb absenteeism of health workers to help ease the monitoring of Government health workers for easy accountability.

Aceng adds that all Government facilities are going to be connected to the National Data Warehouse for easy monitoring and they have already started with the National Referral hospitals and others will follow soon.

She has disclosed that salary enhancement for health workers was done but many are not working according to what they earn so digitizing the sector will streamline this fully.

Dr. Aceng urged public health workers to take their responsibilities seriously and be available to attend to their duties and also cautioned them that disciplinary action would be taken against those found to be absent without valid reasons.
