Ugandan citizens will be required to pay Shs 200,000 for changing their names, place of residence and signature on the National Identity Cards (IDs), according to the new charges.
Osborn Mushabe, the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) Spokesperson says that correction of errors on dates of birth and replacement of damaged or defaced IDs will be charged at shs 200,000 while express services for the new IDs are at shs 300,000.
He explains that replacement of lost ID is at shs 50,000, confirmation of information is charged at shs 1,000 while those at a free cost are correction of errors of telephone contact, spouse, details, religion, level of education and parents among others.
New and replacement of alien ID cards for foreigners is charged at USD100 while their death certificate is at USD40, late registration of death, certified copy of an entry in the register, search in the register and certification of death are at USD20 as Mushabe explains.
