The Managing Director of Radio Sapientia, Rev. Fr. Joseph Lubula has rallied parents and guardians to empower female children to discover their talents and abilities.
Citing Radio Sapientia’s annual sports quiz competition dubbed “Kakensa W’ebyemizannyo”, Fr. Lubula noted that this year only male youths participated in the competition; a sign that girls are not so much empowered in the sports disciplines.
He said this while delivering his speech at the climax of this year’s Kakensa W’ebyemizannyo at the musical concert dubbed “Entujjo Bye Bye 2024” at Tavern Woods, Kabuusu in Rubaga Division.
Fr. Lubula also expressed his appreciation to the sponsors of the sports quiz for partnering with Radio Sapientia in ensuring that the competition ran successfully.
Representatives from the sponsoring companies including; Haojin Motors, Mengo School of Science and Technology among others encouraged listeners of Radio Sapientia to look out for their products and services to be better served with quality.
Meanwhile, Ramathan Mpalanyi, a fan of English football club Chelsea entered history after becoming the champion of this year’s Radio Sapientia’s sport quiz competition dubbed “Kakensa w’Ebyemizannyo”.
Mpalanyi who also supports Uganda’s national football team; the Cranes and a finalist in the 2023 Kakensa w’Ebyemizannyo was crowned during the Station’s end of year musical concert; “Entujjo Bye Bye 2024” at Tavern Woods, Kabuusu in Rubaga Division on Sunday night.
The function was graced by hundreds of revelers who were mostly listeners of Radio Sapientia together with the Radio’s advertising clients.
Mpalanyi emerged the winner after scoring 36 points in the two halves of the final of this annual competition which attracted about 100 participants and lasted for over two months.
He was awarded with a brand new motorcycle as the grand prize from motorcycle dealers, Haojin Motors in Ndeeba, Rubaga Division and an envelope containing cash from Banjeru Properties Uganda Limited.
Divine Lwanga, a supporter of Arsenal FC and KCCA FC came second with 29 points and was awarded with a brand new refrigerator and an envelope of cash while Julius Asiimwe came third and received a mountain sports bike and a 32 inch Television set.
Then this year’s youngest competitor who is also a Liverpool FC and Vipers SC fan, at 14 years of age, Simon Clive Ssennono finished in fourth position with 16 points and was awarded with a mega solar panel and a 32 inch Television set.
Daniel Musoke, the 2023 Kakensa w’Ebyemizannyo champion attended the event and was able to celebrate with Mpalanyi at Tavern Woods given that he has been his coach.
Meanwhile, Some Radio Sapientia staff from the Marketing Department such as Joan Nampijja got a Flat Screen Television set and Victor Asiimwe took home a chair and a table, as a token of appreciation for the work they put in while sourcing for sponsors for the Kakensa project as well as the best supporters of Kakensa such as one David Ssemwogerere who took home a Hoofer.
