The Inter-Religious Council of Uganda (IRCU) calls for peace and charity during this year’s Christmas and New Year celebrations.
In a press conference at their office at Mengo on Monday, the Chairman Board of IRCU, Msgr. Charles Kasibante who represented the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Dr. Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, the Chairperson of the IRCU Council of Presidents, said that this is the time for Christians to live and practice the Christian values of; love, charity, peace, compassion, harmony and kindness.
Msgr. Kasibante says every person is in need of something, however many Ugandans are in dire need for physiological needs to give them a meaningful life to foster peace in their diverse society.
As IRCU, Msgr. Kasibante says they are committed to working with all stakeholders to ensure that Uganda remains peaceful before, during and after the forthcoming 2026 general elections.
He hastened to add that IRCU is concerned about the tension and early signs of political conflicts, being experienced now yet elections should be a process that gives a chance to the citizens to choose the leaders of their choice who are accountable, compassionate and responsible.
