Muwada Nkunyingi, the Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs and Kyadondo East MP, wants the Government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to apologize to the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Sudan over the reckless statements issued by the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
This comes after Gen. Kainerugaba made statements on his X handle (formerly Twitter) about working with US President-elect Donald Trump to capture Khartoum, the capital of Sudan and the DRC.
Nkunyingi emphasized that Gen. Kainerugaba’s comments have put hundreds of Ugandans living in the DRC and the Sudan at risk.
He demanded that the General be held accountable for his statements and resign or apologize to the sovereign people of both countries.
Additionally, Nkunyingi appealed to the DRC and Sudan to distinguish between the actions of the Ugandan regime and its people, who value good relations and peaceful coexistence with their neighbors.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which promotes and protects Uganda’s national interests abroad, should take immediate action to address this diplomatic issue.
