Traffic Police together with the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) have allocated alternative routes for travelers going to Mubende and Fort Portal from Kampala.

This is after the route between Mubende and Kassanda at Kalongo became impassable due to heavy downpours.

Michael Kananura, the Traffic Police Spokesperson says that those from Kampala to Mubende should use Hoima Road to Kiboga via Kakumiro to Mubende and vice versa while those heading to Fort Portal should proceed to Hoima, Kagadi via Kyenjojo to Fort Portal.

He says a joint team from UNRA and Police is on-site assessing the situation and working on a response.

Kananura however encourages motorists to remember exercising caution and follow all traffic guidelines during their journeys.
