His Grace Paul Ssemogerere, the Archbishop of Kampala who has led the Christmas Eucharistic Celebration addressing the media

Christians have braved the heavy downpour to go for prayers in different Churches in Kampala and its surroundings to celebrate Christmas, the day commemorated for the birth of Jesus Christ.

His Grace Paul Ssemogerere, the Archbishop of Kampala who has led the Christmas Eucharistic Celebration at St. Mary’s Cathedral Lubaga noted with gratitude the high turn-up of the congregation saying let the rains be a blessing for many to grow food crops and coffee to earn a living.

He has implored the congregation that was attended by among others The State Minister for Higher Education, Dr. John Chrysostom Muyingo on behalf of the Central Government, Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, Robert Kyagulanyi the President of the opposition National Unity Platform to keep safe while on the road, at home and in health.

This year’s Christmas celebrated today December 25th, 2024 has coincided with the official opening of the Jubilee year by Pope Francis that is to run all the way through 2025 under the theme; “Pilgrims of Hope” which his grace called for prayers to overcome existential challenges.

He also welcomed all Christians to go and witness the launch of the same year at Lubaga Cathedral this Sunday December 29th 2024 at 10am.

Archbishop Ssemogerere said sadness, hatred and divisionism should not have space in this joy of the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ the savior of mankind. Let the pagans take courage and sinners find solace in Jesus Christ that in him humanity may become a new creation.

Denounce the works of the flesh, Christians remember your dignity; love God with all your heart.
