As the political fever begins to take hold across the country, the Independent Electoral Commission (EC) has rescheduled the update of the National Voters Registration exercise.

In a statement released on Tuesday morning by the EC Chairperson, Justice Simon Byabakama, the exercise is rescheduled to commence from January 20th 2025 and ends on February 10th 2025.

In the revised roadmap that was released in July 2024, the update of the National Voters Registration Exercise was scheduled to run from January 3rd to February 4th 2025.

Julius Mucunguzi, the EC Spokesperson says that the exercise will still be conducted at the update stations across the country between 8am and 6pm on each of the dates mentioned above.

The reported budget for the whole Election Roadmap Exercise is about Shs 1.387 trillion, almost doubling the budget for 2021 general elections which was over Shs 698.7 billion.
