DP Pins Police over ‘Elusive’ Errant Officer

Acting DP Spokesperson Ismail Kiirya

The opposition Democratic Party (DP) has lashed out at the police for taking too long to arrest and bring to book the Police Officer reportedly on the run after shooting dead a driver along Sezibwa Road in Kampala city.

The incident happened on Monday this week at around 2 pm when Police Constable Charles Bahati got involved in an altercation with Julius Ssemwaka, the driver of vehicle registration number UAX 480C.

Now the acting DP Party Spokesperson, Ismail Kiirya disclosed that police always take action on political events but when it comes to those directly affecting people, they don’t mind which is not good.

Kiirya adds that the police should fast track the hunt for the said Police Officer in respect for the deceased’s human rights that were violated.

Kiirya meanwhile cautions the police to desist from giving Traffic Police Officers fire arms because they can also be tempted to shoot at errant drivers.
