The Democratic Party (DP) has asked the Government to increase the budget for the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) from 500 billion shillings to over a trillion shillings to facilitate the smooth operation of the Authority.
Speaking to our reporter in an exclusive interview in Kampala on Thursday, the DP acting Spokesperson Ismail Kiirya said that this proposed budget increase aims to support KCCA’s various activities and services, ensuring the city’s effective management and development.
This comes after the recent appointments of the new KCCA Executive Director, Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki and her Deputy Benon Kigenyi by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Kiirya however adds that the problem of KCCA is not all about changing its leadership but instead the limited funds allocated to facilitate the Authority’s activities.
