Civil Society Body Cautions on Implementation of the NDP IV

Executive Director of the Civil Society Budget Advocacy Group (CSBAG), Julius Mukunda

The Executive Director of the Civil Society Budget Advocacy Group (CSBAG), Julius Mukunda has proposed before the Parliament’s Budget Committee to halt the scrutiny of the new National Development Plan IV (NDP IV).

He argued that the target set by the National Planning Authority (NPA) is unrealistic and unachievable for the government compared to the funds.

Mukunda says the Government needs to first harmonize certain economic components like salary disparities of human capital; improve tax policies and others that can boost economic growth.

Meanwhile, CSBAG has also challenged the transparency in implementing the NDP IV by NPA which drafted it and also set the targets.

Mukunda argues that it will be hard for the same body to judge and give an independent performance report about the NDP IV set by selfish interests, calling for an independent body to audit the NDP IV before its implementation.
