The Government of Uganda is set to award 61 distinguished public servants with medals for their performance during the preparations of the Non Aligned Movement (NAM) and G-77 plus China summits that were held in Uganda in January 2024.
These will be rewarded during the 39th Liberation Day celebrations held every 26th of January and this year’s national celebrations will be held at the National Teachers College Grounds in Mubende Town Council, Mubende district under the theme; “39 years of NRA/M Salutations to those who re-sanctified our homeland”.
This has been confirmed by the State Minister for Kampala and Metropolitan Affairs, Kabuye Kyofatogabye on behalf of the Minister for Presidency, Milly Babirye Babalanda, saying that the two summits gave Uganda a global recognition and various accolades.
Kyofatogabye explained that since the end of the NRA bush war in 1986, Uganda prides in peace and security, systems of law and order through institutions that guarantee justice for all which has created an environment which gives Ugandans confidence to pursue their potential, investing heavily in minimum economic recovery, and adding value on raw materials among other achievements.
