The State House is in need of more 30 billion shillings to cater for the clearance of presidential donations.
Presenting the underfunded priorities before the Parliament’s Budget Committee, the Chairperson of the Presidential Affairs Committee of Parliament, Alex Byarugaba noted that in the next financial year 2025/2026, the State House had requested for 83 billion shillings to fully clear off all presidential pledges and donations but unfortunately only 53 billion shillings has been allocated, leaving a funding gap of 30 billion shillings.
Byarugaba who’s also the Isingiro South MP noted that some of the unfulfilled pledges and donations are either public or private extended by the President.
He says failure to deliver depicts a negative image to the office and person of the President and the Government at large.
Similarly, he said the Office is in need of 6 billion shillings as an unfunded gap for retooling of the State House.
Meanwhile, State House had applied for 10 billion shillings to buy new fleets but unfortunately only 4 billion shillings has been availed in the next financial year 2025/2026, leaving an unfunded gap of 6 billion shillings.
Byarugaba noted that most of the State House fleet have been worn out and attract a high cost of repair and maintenance compared to new ones if bought.
