In a significant move, the opposition People’s Progressive Party (PPP) has agreed to collaborate with the recently created Democratic Alliance (DA) pressure group to push for electoral reforms to cause meaningful change in the country.
This strategic partnership aims to amplify their collective voice and influence, ultimately driving meaningful change in the country’s electoral landscape as the country nears the 2025/2026 political season.
While addressing journalists at the PPP party headquarters in Bukota, Kampala on Thursday Saddam Gayira, the PPP National Chairperson disclosed that collaborating on such issues is a good idea which they cannot ignore hence the reason they welcomed the DA delegation to visit their offices.
Meanwhile, the National Coordinator of the DA, Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba says electoral reforms for a longtime have been one of the biggest challenges denying Ugandans free and fair elections.
He adds that as they work together to bring about electoral reforms, they are likely to inspire other opposition parties and civil society organizations to join forces and advocate for a more democratic and inclusive electoral process come the 2026 general elections.
