Internal Affairs Ministry Calls for Evidence from Conned Ugandans in ‘Israel Job Scam’

Simon Peter Mundeyi, the Internal Affairs Ministry Spokesperson

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has called on the public, especially the victims of the job scam by one Andrew Sekimuli and his wife, to provide evidence to the ministry.

This is after the Ministry in collaboration with intelligence and investigations agencies launched a hunt for two fraudsters who fleeced Ugandans of 934 million shillings in an Israel job scam.

About 43 Ugandans were each fleeced 22 million shillings on promises of securing well-paying jobs in Israel by Sekimuli and his wife Backline Mbulateire through their fraudulent online tours and travel company, Akia Guest Tours Limited that was located near Lubaga Cathedral.

Simon Peter Mundeyi, the Internal Affairs Ministry Spokesperson says that Sekimuli was recently arrested from Buikwe where he had hideouts where he also started scamming people, and was aligned before the Muwanga II Magistrate Court and remanded to Luzira prison.

He says that they are still hunting for Mbulateire as they welcome those scammed to report at the Ministry to enable them collect the evidence that will be used to prosecute Sekimuli and have him convicted for his crimes.
