Preparations have been launched for the 70th birthday celebrations of the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.
Kabaka Mutebi, the 36th Kabaka to lead Buganda Kingdom was born onApril 13th 1955.
While launching a five-member preparatory committee at the Kingdom’s administrative seat at Bulange-Mengo, Rubaga Division in Kampala on Friday, the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga reemphasized the importance of this occasion to the Kigdom and the Kabaka’s subjects.
The committee is to be led by the second Deputy Katikkiro, Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa who is also the kingdom’s finance minister, he will be deputized by the Minister for Health at Mengo, Cotilda Nakate Kikomeko, with Josephine Nantege as the secretary and Richard Kabanda as a member.
Mayiga has tasked the committee to organize a memorable celebration for the Kabaka’s 70th birthday which is befitting to the occasion.
It should be noted that the Kabaka’s birthday is usually marked with several activities which include among others organizing of the Airtel Kabaka Birthday Run, through which funds are collected to support several health campaigns like the fight against HIV/AIDS and organizing of health camps for the Kabaka’s subjects.
