The opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) has strongly condemned the recent raid on their party offices by security operatives.
The Party’s President, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine while addressing the media at the party headquarters at Makerere-Kavule, Kawempe division has declared that this act of intimidation will not deter them from their mission.
According to Kyagulanyi, the security forces ransacked their offices, confiscating party materials including money worth over 45 million shillings, computers, important documents, over 420 T-shirts, 2,000 budges, 157 berets, 500 umbrellas, 3video cameras and 1,500 NUP cards, among others.
He accused the Government of orchestrating a crackdown on opposition leaders and members in an attempt to weaken the party ahead of the upcoming political activities.
However, Kyagulanyi has called upon party supporters to stay strong and focused until they reach their main goal of taking state power.
Meanwhile, the NUP Secretary General, David Lewis Rubongoya has announced that the party will be taking legal action to seek compensation for their damaged properties.
He says this move demonstrates the party’s commitment to standing up for their rights and holding the Government accountable for their actions.
