Two more National Unity Platform (NUP) Electoral Management Committee (EMC) officials, who were abducted last week, surfaced on Monday and accused the Government of torturing them for supporting NUP.
These include; Rivans Alex Lwanyaga and Eddie Kayabura adding to the other two members; Mercy Walukamba and Rahma Juma who surfaced on Friday last week.
Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, the NUP Party President during A press conference at THE party headquarters at Makerere-Kavule, Kawempe Division on Monday, he attributed the duo’s release to the pressure exerted by the public after he exposed the abductors and urged Ugandans to continue pressurizing the Government to release all political prisoners.
Kyagulanyi also accused the Government of using abduction and torture as a means of silencing opposition voices but vowed that this will not happen.
Meanwhile, Fred Nyanzi, the party’s head of mobilization used the briefing to narrate his torture ordeal in military detention, alleging that he was abducted and tortured together with other party members for supporting NUP.
