Bishop Zziwa Condemns Security Brutality, Calls for Peaceful Elections

Bishop Anthony Zziwa

The Bishop of the Diocese of Kiyinda-Mityana, Joseph Anthony Zziwa, has condemned security personnel for brutalizing opposition supporters.

While leading Ash Wednesday mass at Kiyinda-Mityana Diocese on Wednesday, Bishop Zziwa urged security officers to reflect on their actions, emphasizing that such behavior is unacceptable and must change.

Referring to Monday’s incidents during the Kawempe by-election campaigns, he acknowledged the police’s role in maintaining law and order but stressed that enforcement should be carried out with dignity and respect.

The bishop also called on Christians to pray for peaceful elections in Kawempe and urged them to work towards fostering peace in their communities during this Lenten season. Additionally, he condemned the increasing cases of domestic violence in families.

He encouraged Christians to use Lent as a time for self-reflection, repentance, and positive transformation.
