Members of Parliament under the NRM parliamentary caucus are currently holding a crucial meeting at State House, Entebbe, to discuss budget priorities for the upcoming 2025/2026 financial year.
The meeting, which began at midday, comes after the Ministry of Finance recently announced an increase in the proposed national budget from Sh57.4 trillion to 66 trillion shillings.
With the deadline for ministries to submit their ministerial policy statements set for March 15th, Friday’s discussions are expected to shape key government spending priorities.
NRM caucus spokesperson Brandon Kintu emphasized that the meeting is not about passing the budget but rather aligning priorities to ensure government programs are effectively funded.
As Uganda moves closer to the next financial year, all eyes remain on how the government will balance increased spending with revenue generation and economic stability.
