Democratic Party condemns DA’s appointment of Its Leaders as Coordinators

Party Secretary General Gerald Siranda

The Democratic Party (DP) has strongly condemned the Democratic Alliance (DA) for unilaterally appointing DP leaders as coordinators throughout the country.

Among those named are Grace Asimwe, the DP NEC representative for Bunyoro Sub-region, Moses Ochole (DP Councillor LCV for Amoria), Sunday Bigogo (Hoima City Representative), and Hillary Bisacca (Lubirizi Chairperson).

Party Secretary General Gerald Siranda voiced concern during a press conference at Balintuma Road, stating that the DA’s actions are unacceptable and compromise the DP’s autonomy.

He emphasized that the party members were neither consulted nor informed about these appointments, leading to internal discord.

Siranda demanded the DA retract its decision and respect the DP’s independence, asserting that the party will not tolerate external interference.

At the same meeting, former DP candidate Henry Kasacca Mubiru condemned the violence surrounding the recent Kawempe North by-election, calling for accountability for misconduct by security forces.
