Deputy Lord Mayor Nyanjura urges NUP Women to unite for social, political change

Deputy Lord Mayor of KCCA Doreen Nyanjura

The Deputy Lord Mayor of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Doreen Nyanjura, has called on women from the National Unity Platform (NUP) to set aside political differences and unite for social, economic, and political transformation in Uganda.

Nyanjura made the remarks as NUP women gathered at their party headquarters in Makerere Kavule to commemorate International Women’s Day.

The event, held in remembrance of their fallen comrades including Ritah Nabukenya and Jolly Mugisha highlighted the ongoing struggle for change.

Emphasizing the power of unity, Nyanjura urged women to work together to advocate for policies and initiatives that address their shared challenges.

She stressed that collective action is key to driving meaningful progress.

Meanwhile, Wakiso District Woman Member of Parliament and NUP member Betty Ethel Naluyima encouraged women to harness their potential to influence political leadership.

She emphasized that by changing Uganda’s leadership, women can help improve maternal healthcare and prevent deaths during childbirth.
