Faridah Nambi withdraws vote recount

Faridah Nambi, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate in the Kawempe North by-election, has officially withdrawn her petition to the Electoral Commission requesting a vote recount.

Her decision comes after initially contesting the election results, which declared Elias Luyimbazi Nalukoola of the National Unity Platform (NUP) as the winner.

While Nambi has not publicly explained her reasons for the withdrawal, it may suggest a change in strategy or an acceptance of the outcome.

In a statement released by Atwijukire Dennis Advocates, the Company head, Dennis Atwijukire indicates that they received instructions from Nambi to withdraw the case after gazing Nalukoola.

The Kawempe North by-election, held to fill the seat left vacant by the late Muhammad Ssegirinya, was highly contested.

According to the final results published in the Uganda Gazette, Nalukoola secured victory with 17,939 votes, while Nambi finished second with 9,058 votes.
