JEEMA Chairman expresses concern over internal wrangles ahead of 2026 elections

JEEMA Chairman for Kampala, Siraje Kifampa Nsambu

The Justice Forum (JEEMA) Chairman for Kampala, Siraje Kifampa Nsambu, has expressed deep concern about the party’s ongoing internal wrangles, warning that they could jeopardize their performance in the 2026 general elections.

Kifampa stated that if the party does not resolve its leadership issues soon, it could lead to unfair competition among candidates at all levels.

JEEMA has faced leadership disputes since 2023, with some party officials reportedly attempting to oust top leaders, including the party’s president, Asuman Basalirwa. These officials were subsequently suspended.

Recently, Ssentongo Kyamundu, JEEMA’s spokesperson, announced plans to convene a delegates’ conference in July 2025 to discuss the removal of certain leaders who have overstayed in office after the expiration of their terms.

Kifampa emphasized that to mount a strong challenge against the National Unity Platform (NUP), the dominant party in Kampala and greater Buganda, JEEMA must resolve its internal issues and strengthen its organizational structure.

He also called for unity within the party, urging all members to focus on their shared goals rather than personal ambitions; as such divisions could severely hinder their prospects in the upcoming elections.

With the 2026 general elections approaching, Kifampa believes JEEMA’s ability to present a united front will be crucial in gaining the trust and support of voters.
