President Yoweri Museveni has appointed Arthur Mugyenyi as the new Director General of the Internal Security Organization (ISO).
The announcement was made on Tuesday afternoon in a statement from the Presidential Press Unit (PPU).
Mr. Mugyenyi takes over the role following the passing of Brig. Gen. Charles Oluka, who died on January 29, 2025.
In addition, the President has appointed Tony Kinyera Apecu as Deputy Director General of ISO, replacing Col. Emma Katabazi, who has now been assigned as Deputy Ambassador.
ISO is Uganda’s counter-intelligence agency, tasked with providing national security intelligence to policymakers and carrying out covert operations as directed by the President.
The new leadership is expected to strengthen the agency’s role in safeguarding national security.
