Uganda enhances National ID issuance with modern equipment, training

National Identification and Registration Authority

The Ugandan government has launched a major initiative to improve national identification services.

Four state-of-the-art card printing machines have been installed, enabling the production of up to 12,000 national IDs per hour.

This significant upgrade is part of a broader effort to enhance the efficiency and reliability of national ID issuance.

According to Peter Okwalinga, an official from National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA)’s Public Relations Department, the government aims to provide citizens with secure, tamper-proof identification documents that will facilitate access to essential services.

Comprehensive training programs have been implemented to ensure that staff is equipped to operate the new machinery and provide excellent service to the public.

The initiative is expected to have a positive impact on national development, promoting transparency, accountability, and social inclusion.
